Visit the ruins of 13th Century Kilfane Church and marvel at the effigy of a Norman Knight in full armour on its North Wall, the tallest of its kind in these islands.
Then roam the pristine Kilfane Glen and Waterfall, a perfectly preserved Irish Heritage Garden dating from the 1790s, complete with wildflower-fringed woodland walks, tiny stone bridges and a rushing stream fed by the cascading waters.
2. Thomastown to Inistioge Loop (18 km. 80 mins cycling. Rise & fall 285m)
Mostly quiet roads. Mill Road outside Inistioge is a quiet secondary road partially shaded by trees.
This charming route connects two of Kilkenny’s most historic and vibrant towns and follows the curves of the picturesque Nore River, with its teaming salmon, ancient ruins and verdant surrounding woodlands.
