Welcome to River Walks

The River Nore flows right through the county offering a wonderful perspective on the countryside for walkers. Trail Kilkenny has developed a number of walks along stretches of the river – The Nore Linear Park through the city and environs of Kilkenny, the ‘delightful walk’ (as described by the Irish Times) from Kilkenny to Bennettsbridge and along the riverbank, through pastoral lands and woodland from Thomastown to Inistioge.

Choose a river walk, read more about it and view or download the map from the selection in the Nore Valley Walk scroll down box to the left
Trail Kilkenny offers other activity trails to help you discover more of Kilkenny’s countryside; including Scenic Walks and cycle routes from the range of Cycling Trails. Read more about them by clicking on your choice in the scroll down boxes to the left.

Explore the culture of Kilkenny on one of Trail Kilkenny’s Themed Trails – the MADE in Kilkenny Craft Trail or the TASTE of Kilkenny Food Trail.

The Country Code
The country code reminds us that we are all guardians of our
landscape and that these trails in particular have been developed with the kind permission of landowners –we ask that you…
Respect the people who live and work in
the countryside
Leave gates as you find them
If you encounter livestock, keep to the edge of the field
Avoid disturbing fences, hedges, walls and gates
Follow waymarked paths at all times
Take your litter home
Do not light fires
Respect wildlife, plants and trees
Always consider your personal safety and keep children under supervision
