Welcome to Cycling Trails

Take your bike on tour (or hire one in Kilkenny – click on Activity Providers!) and explore the Kilkenny countryside on one of the 4 cycle loops signposted through the county. The East Kilkenny (64km) route links some of the most historic and culturally significant towns in the area. The most challenging of the cycle loops, the 80 plus kilometre North Kilkenny loop winds its way through varied rural scenery. The North and South routes are shorter, two hour cycles along mainly country roads through diverse scenery and passing some of the most picturesque villages.

While on your cycling trail, you’ll have the opportunity to explore some of Trail Kilkenny’s Themed Trails – visit the studios of some of the crafts people of the MADE in Kilkenny Craft Trail or the artisan food producers and eateries along the TASTE of Kilkenny Food Trail.

Trail Kilkenny offers other activity trails to help you discover more of Kilkenny’s countryside; including Scenic Walks and river walks on the Nore Valley Walk. Read more about them by clicking on your choice in the scroll down boxes to the left.

The Country Code
The country code reminds us that we are all guardians of our
landscape and that these trails in particular have been developed with the kind permission of landowners –we ask that you…
Respect the people who live and work in
the countryside
Leave gates as you find them
If you encounter livestock, keep to the edge of the field
Avoid disturbing fences, hedges, walls and gates
Follow waymarked paths at all times
Take your litter home
Do not light fires
Respect wildlife, plants and trees
Always consider your personal safety and keep children under supervision
